Re: UPS for rp8400

Raje,

HP currently do not offer a power protection option for the RP8400 - even the configurator backs this up.

The only avaliable UPS is the 2.1KW mdoel which has just gone into constraint and is taking weeks to get hold if your lucky.

For a machine of this current draw an external room UPS is usually utilised - the spec's of the RP8400 are:

HP Server rp8400 Fully Loaded Configuration:
??? Sixteen 875-MHz PA-8700+ processors
??? 64 GB of Memory
??? 16 PCI cards
??? 4 cell boards
??? 4 internal hard drives
??? 2 DVD drives
??? 2 Core I/O cards
??? 6 bulk power supplies.
??? Theoretical Maximum power consumption: 5035 VA (25.2 A @ 200 VAC)
??? Typical power consumption: 3046 VA (15.2 A @ 200 VAC) based on 8 x way spec

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Re: UPS for rp8400

Raje,

Found an answer for you on the UPS question - please see below:

"Introduction of new UPS Products for HP PA-RISC and Itanium based Servers

HP is introducing a new line of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) to simplify its current UPS product family for HP PA-RISC and Itanium based servers and storage solutions. In May, 2003 HP will introduce the following UPS products:

J4367A HP Rack System/E R3000 XR UPS 3.0 kVA (2.7 kW)
Option 0D1 Factory Integration
Option 001 North America/Japan
Option 002 International
J4368A HP Rack System/E R3000 XR Extended Power Pack

J4370A HP Rack System/E R6000 XR UPS 6.0 kVA (6.0 kW)
Option 0D1 Factory Integration
Option 001 North America/Japan
Option 002 International
J4371A HP Rack System/E R6000 XR Extended Power Pack

J4373A HP Rack System/E R12000 XR UPS 12.0 kVA (12.0kW)
Option 0D1 Factory Integration
J4374A HP Rack System/E R12000 XR Extended Power Pack

These new HP Rack System/ E rack-mountable UPSs are designed for dense data-center environments and offer industry leading power density. With unity power ratings and a smaller form factor (measured in rack U-space), they provide more performance while saving valuable rack real estate. These UPSs are offered with Extended Power Packs to increase system runtime"

Doesn't get hotter of the press than that.

Cheers
