CHANGING AN IP ADDRESS OF A PRINTER ON THE HP - II

We have edited the NPCONFIG file and did a stopspool and a startspool, but it still doesn't work. Do we have to validate something somewhere?

How can we know if we're using a 3rd party package such as ESPUL or SPOOLMATE?

If you are running a third party spool package, then there will be a permanent job running. If there a no extranous jobs running, then it will be the HP spooler.
Can you display a copy of your nmconfig file and the device info from sysgen for this printer.

Based on the posted question of changing the IP address of an HP printer. Assuming this is a network printer, can telnet to the printer and in the JetDirect settings will be the IP and subnet mask and...

I'm sure Ian meant your NPconfig file. Also, can you ping the printer using the IP address you assigned it?
