Enable Enclosure Firmware Management
Anyone been successful flashing firmware on a C7000 chassis using the "Enclosure Firmware Management" function via the Onboard Administrator?
I can't get the Enable Enclosure Firmware Management function to work using an ISO.
Setting the "Firmware ISO URL" field to the URL of the SPP (hosted on an internal IIS7 website) gives the following error:
Enclosure Firmware Management Settings
Unable to mount ISO or validate version information. The URL or ISO is invalid.
C7000 Chassis
OA FM Version 1.7
I have checked the MIME version for the .iso file is supported on IIS (as per a previous post on this forum) but it will wont open.
Any assistance is much appreciated.

Re: Enable Enclosure Firmware Management
The ISO must be an SPP (copy the ISO file directly to an USB stick and connect the stick to the active OA, don't extract the ISO!)
What SPP are you using?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Enable Enclosure Firmware Management
The ISO is an SPP ISO. Downloaded from the HP site.
HP_Service_Pack_for_ProLiant_2014.09.0_792934_001_spp_2014.09.0-SPP2014090.2014_0827.10
I take your point about the USB stick but i don't want to use that. I've a lot of Chassis to update. I'm hoping to use the Enclosure firmware update utility.
Thanks.

This is one possibly way to use EFM. You need a source on http, the ISO connected to the OA can be such source.
How do you provide the image?
Can you access it from a browser?
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Enable Enclosure Firmware Management
Yes. I can open the site using IE / Firefox and the image file opens (prompts for download) with no problem.
At this point i actually believe it's an issue wit IIS as when i put the ISO on an Apache website the OA can read it using EFM.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Enable Enclosure Firmware Management
Did anyone have any progress on this issue, when i serve up the ISO then go to verify, it simply blanks it out and returns to default settings.
I can browse to the ISO from another machine using the URL i've created and i'm then prompted for what to do e,g download/run.

Re: Enable Enclosure Firmware Management
Ensure you are using an IP address in the URL and not the DNS name of the host. It doesnt work with the DNS name only the IP
Hope this helps
