Onboard Administrator (OA) 2.51 Kernel: Out of memory

Steve was auditing a customer BladeSystem environment:

Hey folks,

Performing an assessment of a customer environment at the moment and noticed one OA reporting:

Oct 16 09:15:37  Kernel: Out of Memory: Kill process 30538 (httpd2) score 1359 and children.
Oct 16 09:15:37  Kernel: Out of memory: Killed process 30538 (httpd2).
Oct 16 11:16:27  Kernel: Out of Memory: Kill process 30539 (httpd2) score 1359 and children.
Oct 16 11:16:27  Kernel: Out of memory: Killed process 30539 (httpd2).
Oct 16 16:18:11  Kernel: Out of Memory: Kill process 1956 (iptables) score 834 and children.
Oct 16 16:18:11  Kernel: Out of memory: Killed process 1956 (iptables).
Oct 16 17:30:47  netreg: DDNS: Update refused by DNS server
Oct 16 17:30:57  netreg: NETBIOS: Registered with WINS
Oct 16 19:56:15  OA: Management process failure.  Rebooting the Onboard Administrator
Oct 16 19:56:40  OA: Onboard Administrator entering Standby mode.

The show all is attached (oa2 syslog).  Any ideas?  We'll be getting all of their enclosures up to the latest Release Set after the assessment.

Anyway, this doesn't bother me near as much as the dozen or so VC domains running VCM 1.21 :)

Monty gave some insight for the Onboard Administrator issues:

These OA syslog messages do indicate the OA has run out of memory and the OS has begun killing processes.

The httpd2 service is the web service – critical to both using the OA GUI, Virtual Connect Manager and VCEM.

We highly recommend updating the OA to the latest firmware version as we have implemented code to remove problems like sessions that aren’t closed properly (I notice the OA logs full of invalid logins and sessions that aren’t closed properly.  I note that you have SIM configured for this enclosure – which did have problems not closing sessions to the OA).
