Pass-thru Modules and CISCO FEX 2232TM cable question

Mateusz had a custoemr question:

****************

My customer wants to buy c7000 with 10GbE Pass-Thru modules (and some SAN switches). He wants to connect Pass-Thru interconnects to his CISCO FEX2232TM using DAC cables.

Can he use:

  •    HP 3m C-series Passive Copper SFP+ Cable AP784A
  • HP 5m C-series Passive Copper SFP+ Cable AP785A

They are not listed as compatible in quickspec for HP 10GbE Pass-Thru Module.

I found there only:

  • HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 1m 10GbE Copper Cable 487652-B21
  • HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 3m 10GbE Copper Cable 487655-B21
  • HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 5m 10GbE Copper Cable 537963-B21
  • HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 7m 10GbE Copper Cable 487658-B21

Are they compatible with CISCO FEX? What DAC cables should I use to connect HP 10GbE Pass-Thru module with FEX2232TM?

Thank you in advance!

Yes the C series cables will work.

From the QuickSpecs:

NOTE: The above cables have been tested and verified to work with the HP 10GbE Pass-Thru Module. However, the module will accept cables from any vendor.

So the c series will be accepted by the PTM as a non-tested cable and as they are c series, should be welcomed by the FEX2232
