End-to-End RoCE using HP C7000 Enclosure with 10G Pass Through Modules

A customer had a request for End-to-End RoCE implementation and the Connectivity details are is as below:

(BL460c Gen9 + HP FlexFabric 20Gb 2-port 650FLB Adapter )  to a (HP C7000 with HP BLc 10GbE Pass Through Modules - 538113-B21) to a (Cisco ToR Switches with RoCE) to a  (Cisco Core Switches with RoCE) to a (HP DL360 Gen9 with HP InfiniBand FDR/Ethernet 10Gb/40Gb 2-port 544+FLR-QSFP Adapter - 764285-B21 - ConnectX-3 Pro 2P 544+ FlexLOM FDR/40GbE with RoCE) to a  (DDN Storage with RoCE).

Query – When configuring HP C7000 Enclosure with 10G Pass Through Module which does not have any switching capability, Does End-to-End RoCE can be implemented by using above configuration and is a workable configuration?

Hello Amit,

Yes. The 650FLB should be set to RoCE (1 or 2) personality in RBSU (depending on what RoCE is used for).

The unique requirement on the ToR switch side, is to set the corresponding port to DCB Priority Flow Control (PFC), it’s usually 5.
