Hi folks,
I am new to Blade servers, Virtual Connect, and taking over a c3000 from someone.
I've reset the OA and VC to default.
I am able to install ESXi 5.5 on my Blade server and enter their DNS host name for the Management network.
However, my server names in OA and VC still show old previous names.
I have not been able to figure out how to change them to what's appropriate. Pic attached.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
romatlo

SolutionHey, not sure about in the VC but for the OA you can log on to the server's iLO (the ILO under the left arrow in your picture and then web administration in that page) and then in iLO on the server click on the 'server name' link near where the name is on the overview page.
http://www.serverwatch.com/img/hp%20proliant%20dl%20385%20G7-3.jpg if you look on that picture the "Server Name" is a link, click on that to change the name.

Re: How to change Blade Server name in OA and Virtual Connect?
I still do not see that. Maybe because I am using ILO 2 and firmware from 2010.
Thanks for your response. I need to do more research!

I have old c7000 and old firmwares too. I think it's similar to this. What are you not seeing?

Re: How to change Blade Server name in OA and Virtual Connect?
Easy way to tell if something is "changable" in iLO is that it appears in blue type... Oh and anything you change, you have to save for it to take affect. The "save" button is not always on the screen in the GUI. Sometimes you have to go to bottom of page to find the save button.
Regards,
Louis

does it causing any outage to the server ?

Re: How to change Blade Server name in OA and Virtual Connect?
Ah I see.
because in my case with HP Blade server with iLO v3, it requested for iLO reset and I'm not sure if it is going to cause any outage to the guest operating system.

Re: How to change Blade Server name in OA and Virtual Connect?
It should only reset the iLO - not the OS.
