Hi all,
we have new c7000 enclosures and have a few questions about new features. Detailed documentation is scarce to say the least.
Our setup for power is single phase and is using an older 60A 3phase c7000 PDU (half height) X 2.
We are not using the intelligent power cords since not using the newer Intelligent PDUs. We don't set Dynamic Power capping.
Q1: what is purpose of intelligent AC Input Module?
Q2:In our configuration, do we need to use blue cable (P/N 675180-001) to connect from AC Module to OAs?
Q3: we are currently using just one OA. Any problems do you see with this setup? (other than a single point of failure)
Regards,
Louis

SolutionGreetings!
Louis,
1. HP Intelligent Power Distribution Unit:
Intelligent AC module to any c7000 BladeSystem enclosure enables Intelligent Power Discovery when connected directly to any six or twelve out iPDU core unit. IPD will automatically detect where the c7000 enclosure is plugged in and insure
redundancy across iPDU inputs.
More details available here:
http://h17007.www1.hp.com/docs/interop/HP_Intelligent_Power_Dist_Units.pdf
2. Connecting OA:
Refer page # 44 . how to install OA
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00698286
3. Using single OA is not a problem, other than single point of failure. If we have 2 OA's,one will be primary and other will be secondary. If primary OA failover, secondary OA will take over.
I hope you find this information helpful!
Regards,
Renji V

Re: New c7000 Platinum Enclosure questions
Hi! Thanks for your reply.
So...based on the referenced documentation, I DO NOT neet a connection from the Intelligent AC Input Module to the OAs as we are not implementing the iPDU in our Data Center at this time.

Louis
