StorageWorks SB600cAiO OS Restore Fail
I have a SB600, sb40c partner disk array. I have wiped all the info off all of the disks to do a system recovery with the software that came with it.
I boot into the recovery software and it refuses to start and gives me this message:
"An Invalid logical drive configuration has been detected. Refer to the User Guide for instructions on configuring drives or call HP customer support."
Before everyone starts screaming RTFM, yes, I have the infamous user guide, well to be honest i have a number of guides from out of the box but nothing refers to logical drive configuration pre a system recovery from CD.
There also isn't any fancy options when configuring logical arrays anyway.
Seeing as there is only two disks in this device, in the f8 configuration utility I can have raid0 or 0+1, both of which I have tried I am out of my depth.
Can someone please fill me in how to create a valid logical drive so the recovery CD will put storage server back on my hardware.
Cheers for any suggestions.

Re: StorageWorks SB600cAiO OS Restore Fail
You've been rash deleting ALL the LUNS and Arrays: it is explicitly told in the management program, in the OS and in the guide to NOT delete the system LUN in any case.
Now you have to boot with a smart start cd, go to ACU, create a RAID1 set, createa 35 GB LUN and now try to reboot with the System recovery CD.
If it doesn't work try to reboot again with smartstart and create an additional small LUN of 5 GB, then retry.
If everything fails you have to call HP, but i don't know if they'll support you on this in warranty mode....
Anyway sb600 is treated like an hardware solution / appliance so... try.
HTH.

Re: StorageWorks SB600cAiO OS Restore Fail
which manual specifically are you talking about, my shipped user guide(s) do not say a thing about recovery.
Do i specifically need a smart start or is the f8 tool ok to create the LUNs?
Cheers

Re: StorageWorks SB600cAiO OS Restore Fail
I know it was an issue 4 years ago :) but I have just faced with a similar issue. I have googled it a lot without succes but finally I have guessed it. Backup the server, reboot, f8, delete all volumes, boot from rescue disc and we are happy.
