802.1x and Mac Auth with NPS some ports blocked by AAA
Hi,
I have 7 5406zl Switches. I used 802.1x and mac auth on the same port.
The problem is that on some ports I get a "blocked by AAA" message in the Log of the Switch.
And then all devices on this port be blocked.
My conf is working on 300 other ports with the same config.
Firmware version : K.15.08.0013
Here is my conf.
on Switch:
aaa authentication port-access eap-radius
aaa port-access authenticator A1
aaa port-access authenticator A1 client-limit 3
aaa port-access authenticator active
aaa port-access mac-based A1
aaa port-access mac-based A1 addr-limit 5
aaa port-access mac-based A1 addr-moves
aaa port-access mac-based A1 unauth-vid 26
aaa port-access A1 mixed
On the Switch I get
A1 Domain\User 643150-xxxxxx n/a Authenticated
In the NPS I get an "full-access" log entry
But in the switch log I get
I 01/30/13 13:55:26 00435 ports: port A1 is Blocked by AAA
I look in the debug output of the switch
debug security radius &
debug security port-access authenicator
there I get only access messages.
So please help me.
Thanks

Re: 802.1x and Mac Auth with NPS some ports blocked by AAA
This may be a silly question, but I'll throw it out there- is the device being connected (that's generating the AAA auth failure) an 802.1X-capable device? If the switch gets EAP packets (signaling 802.1X) it may not try the MAC-auth, even if it's set as an allowed second method.
Because that configuration is (technically) off-spec, not detailed in the IEEE 802.1X (pre-2010) standard, each manufacturer and each firmware code, may handle it a little differnet.
