SANiQ and DSM MPIO in a mixed Windows and Vmware environment
Hello all
Previously there was a locking issue when using the MPIO software on a Windows machine that was also connected to the same LUNS that VMWare accessed.
Is this still the case? has this been fixed in later versions of the software?

Re: SANiQ and DSM MPIO in a mixed Windows and Vmware environment
what file system are you using? Sounds like a dangerous game to be playing if you are looking for R/W access from two totally disjoint systems.

Hi oikjn
We are using backup exec and its AVVI to bypass the VMWare host and perform direct from SAN VM backups.
I totally agree with you about the R/W access to different files systems, so that's why I have presented the LUNS to the backup exec server as read only.
Here is the original technote.
Here are the steps required for backup exec if you're interested.
