Transfer Volumes to new cluster
Legacy environment has volumes on NSM160s. What's the proper procedure to migrate volumes to new P4000 cluster?
Remote snapshot?
Do you foresee an issue if the software versions differ?
In a perfect world it'd be a cut & paste procedure.

Re: Transfer Volumes to new cluster
Are you managing the 2 clusters from the same CMC? the same Management group?
I thought you could just "migrate" volumes between clusters in the same Management Group. I have not done it so don't know for sure.

Re: Transfer Volumes to new cluster
Hi,
As Steven says above if the clusters are in the same managemnet group you can move a volume between clusters.
In your case, I guess you have a few options and you would need to select the most appropriate.
1: Present a volume from the new cluster and then use the OS to copy the data across.
2: Tape backup and then restore
3: Use remote IP copy. Note that this is ASYNCHRONOUS so the customer can still use his source volume but then the new volume would be as good as the last complete copy/snapshot so it will always be xx minutes/hours/days behind the source volume.
You may think of others or other people may suggest other options.
