IMC hardware alarms
What is the best way to alarm on hardware failure? For example on a HP 3500 or 5400 series chassis how to get alarms on module, fan and power supply failures. I have tried using using custom syslog to alarm but the alarms are being processed by IMC 6 hours after the switch sends the log. I have tried SNMP to alarm to make a custom trap but it seems lump all alarms with a paticular OID so that is not helpful. I would appreciate any input or experience on how everyone else is viewing and detecting hardware problems. IMC 7.1 E303P13, on RH. Thank you.

That doesn't sound right at all. Something else is going on if it's taking your system 6 hours to process a syslog -> alarm rule.
Do you see the syslog show up on IMC straight away? Or does it not even show up in all syslogs for 6 hours?
