Great News! It's about time!

This makes the choice to stay with Service Manager, Upgrade, etc. that much easier for Customers. CapEx vs. OpEx is strong driver for tool choice in a market glutted with feature rich and capable tools.

Hi Team,

HP ServiceManager Subsription looks interesting upfront.
I have few doubts and have listed a few below

1. How would the onboarding a customer happen. Would they get ready to use OOB HP ServiceManager.
2. My saying HP would provide Maintanence and Support, would HP manage the Help desk, Incident Management, Problem Management.
3. How would the defects and Enhacements be implemented, is there a planned release cycle.

@Rich – Yes, customers have been asking for additional pricing options – and we are thrilled to bring this offer to market.   I just got back from Discover, and by the time I left Vegas, my voice was almost gone from 3 days of constant talking with customers, partners and peers on the benefits around this offer.  Gartner Research published a new report about IT Service Desk vendor strategies - – days before our announcement so the timing was somewhat uncanny.  I don’t have distribution rights for the report and so cannot include it – but for those out there with Gartner access, it’s an interesting read.

@ Gaurav -  The main thing you need to know is that HP Service Manager – Subscription(SM-S) is the identical product as a HP Service Manager Enterprise Suite Named User  – except SM-S pricing also includes support. This new pricing is based on a per user, per month price for the “right to use”.   There is no separate annual support fee. The customer does not “own” the licenses.   SM-S comes with a choice of support options:  9x5 @$50 /user/month USD and 7x24@ $55/user/month.


Since its on-premise (not SaaS) the customer is responsible for all infrastructure, operations, deployment, on-boarding and maintenance just as he would be if purchasing Service Manager with the previous classic pricing.

I also have heard this in conversations I had in EMEA - HP Service Manager Subscription is a great option for customers who are looking to shift tradional CapEx to OpEx and pay as they go, which is also one of the big business values SaaS provides. This frees up investment for other areas.

SM Subscription provides a great choice for those organizations who intend to replace their legacy BMC, CA, IBM or other third party on-premise service desk solution and are concerned that a SaaS service desk solution will not work for them from the perspective of security, data being local or desired customisation levels. 


SM Subscription not only provides the customers a better ITSM solution than their existing one with the comfort of having the solution on premise, but also an aggressive Opex pricing model with a low TCO.
