What is new with HP UCMDB Configuration Manager 9.31?

More and more customers are implementing Configuration Manager in order to save time on configuration audits, identify servers with nonstandard configurations, monitor undesired changes to their applications and systems, and report on configuration policy breaches.  The latest release of HP UCMDB Configuration Manager (version 9.31) aligns with these needs and focusses on improving the configuration management process and information sharing with particular attention paid to enhancing other IT management processes such as change management and incident management.

  • Closed Loop Change and Configuration Management - Configuration Manager extends the CCRM solution by providing a post-implementation procedure for reviewing and validating Request for Change (RFC). Configuration Manager can drive changes (RFCs) from within the Configuration Management process, to roll back undesired changes, to remediate a deviation from defined standards (policy breaches), or to gain visibility to unplanned changes.
  • Email Notifications for policy breaches or unauthorized changes - Configuration Manager can send email notifications when policy breaches or unauthorized changes are detected. These notifications help drive the configuration process – users know about issues sooner and can address them.
  • Scheduled Reports - The new Reports Management module enables users to get change and policy-related reports directly to their inboxes. Several report types are provided, including historical changes, daily changes, unplanned changes, and detailed policy statuses. This new feature allows change managers, service owners, and subject matter experts to schedule reports that are filtered by their respective domains and interests.
  • Single Pane of Glass for Configuration Policies - This new capability enables Configuration Manager to consume policy results from external sources such as HP Server Automation, in one topological layout. This enables the people who are responsible for making changes to see a bigger picture. For example, the application owner could see the status of policies for the server infrastructure that supports his application.
  • CM KPIs consumed in BSM CI 360 View - Configuration Manager information such as policy statuses, policy summary KPIs for a business Service, and authorization status can now be consumed by external applications, using UCMDB’s federation ability. For example, in the BSM CI-360 view, you could see KPIs related to Configuration Manager.
  • CM Policy results in UCMDB Browser - UCMDB Browser now shows Configuration Manager policies, so all of IT can have access to information in the CMS including understanding policy issues. By leveraging policy data from Configuration Manager, the UCMDB Browser improves the information available to users.
  • Launch Enterprise Collaboration (or other applications) from within the configuration management process. You can contribute information from Configuration Manager as you use Enterprise Collaboration. For example, you can leverage information about CIs that have changed or are breaching policies in a new conversation related to an issue that may have been found on a CI.
