Email Alerts from System Management Homepage

Is there a way to configure SMTP email alerts on a standalone system with HP System Management installed on it. I have a standalone server that I would like messages sent from. I do not have and have no plans to install SIM in my environment.

thanks

Re: Email Alerts from System Management Homepage

Hi,
for Windows you can use the HP Insight Event Notifier.
Start/Programs/HP Management Agents

Re: Email Alerts from System Management Homepage

Ok well, how do I integrate the event notifier into the System Management Homepage?

When I send test WBEM events from the test app and from SMH the events are sent to the event logs but no email is sent.

Any help?

Re: Email Alerts from System Management Homepage

ist the service HP Insight Event Notifier started?
have you add a recipient and are all Events checked?
I send a testtrap with controlpanel/HP ManagementAgents/SNMPSettings.
Have you install SNMP before you installed the Agents?
How did you send WBEM Events?

I can send Testtraps per controlpanel and per SM Homepage

Re: Email Alerts from System Management Homepage

Yes the service is started.

I am the recipient and all events are checked

I did not know there was the HP Management Agent in the control panel. If I go here and select SNMP Settings like you say and then send a Trap Test, I do receive an Email.
So what am I missing?

How did you send WBEM Events?

I send the WBEM events by going to Start/HP Insight WBEM Providers/HP WBEM Events

and by going to the System Management Homepage and sending tests from there. The tests go to the event log but no email.

thanks

Re: Email Alerts from System Management Homepage

Hi,
WBEM and the testbutton on SMH is the same. Both don't send mails.

Only Events generate from HP-Agents over SNMP send mails.

Please check Services SNMP It must installed before you install the Agents. Verify that you have conigured under Traps a community name (public) und one Trap destination (localhost)
the restart SNMP service and eventually reinstall HP-Agents.

Have you install the complete Support Pack? Or only some Modules?

SNMP does appear to be installed. SNMP service and SNMP trap service are both listed in windows services. SNMP trap service was stopped and set to manual. I started this and restarted SNMP.

-Verify that you have conigured under Traps a community name (public) und one Trap destination (localhost)
the restart SNMP service and eventually reinstall HP-Agents.

I checked and public and destination appear to be correct. There are HP dependicies as well.

Pretty sure I installed only some modules. THe install was done on a new server using HP's install CD's.

Re: Email Alerts from System Management Homepage

I've installed System Management Homepage on a standalone ML310e G8 with Server 2008 R2. There is no menu choice for HP Insight Event Notifier.
Start/Programs/HP Management Agents only has HP System Management Homepage. Can someone please tell me how to access it or where to download the Event Notifier? Thank-you very much!
