Installing HP SIM on Windows Server as Virtual machine

Hi Everyone,

in the document that I downloaded yesterday "HP Systems Insight Manager 6.2
Installation and Configuration Guide for
Microsoft Windows"

in section: 'Systems Insight Manager Windows Virtual Machine support" - Page 8

what does "HP Integrity VMs do not support running an application at the same level as the host" means ?

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Best regards,

Re: Installing HP SIM on Windows Server as Virtual machine

This is when you want to manage HP-UX VMs on Integrity blades using the SIM CMS on Windows. Do you have Integrity blades? If not, you don't have to worry about this at all.

Re: Installing HP SIM on Windows Server as Virtual machine

When it says HP Integrity VMs it is referring to a virtual machine running on an Integrity server. ESX doesn't run on Integrity servers so the VM host in this case is not ESX, but HP-UX. So HP-UX runs a virtual machine manager and one of the VMs can then be Microsoft Windows 2003, and SIM can run in this VM. Not really sure why anyone would want to do this as if you have a HP-UX box you would run the SIM CMS on HP-UX, not Windows. Original comment stands, if you don't have Integrity blades you don't have to worry about this.
