Registering RFC1628 MIB

Hello,

I have some problems to register the UPS-MIB (rfc1628).

I used mcompile to create the cfg-file and receives no error message. But after I tried to register the cfg-file with mxmib I received the mesage: "IMPORTING CFG rfc1628.cfg
Error reading CFG: MIB node has no parent Line: 76.
AN ERROR OCCURRED EXECUTING THE COMMAND"

The line 76 shows: "upsMIB OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { mib-2 33 }"

Does anyone knows what I have to do to solve this problem and successfully register this mib?
I'm using HP SIM5.0

Thank you for your help

Re: Registering RFC1628 MIB

I just ran into this same problem yesterday installing MIBs for our Liebert UPS. I wound up having to contact them to get corrected files to use with SIM.

Re: Registering RFC1628 MIB

Yes I've called HP Support.

They told me that I should call the vendor of the MIB !!

It is not a problem of HP SIM ??!!

I will open a online request to HP Support again.

Re: Registering RFC1628 MIB

The vondor of the mib sent me an special mib for HP SIM.

This was the solution of my problem.

HP Support gave me no feedback!

Re: Registering RFC1628 MIB

Hi,

Thanks for the info.
Meanwhile I figured it out. I had to insert a line into the .cfg file before the one SIM said is in error:

mib-2 OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { mgmt 1 }

After this importing (mxmib -a) worked.
