Hello!
There is a problem in case of the HP System Insight Manager updating v.7.1 on 7.2. We use local SQL DB. But each time that I start the installation of HP SIM 7.2 - in a window where are specified convergence about local existing DB - I can only provide the Password of the user. As there are also other fields unavailable to editing. I have the message: "Unable to connect to specified database. Please check the host database and port values provided"
I already read another post having the same behavior in a remote DB installation, but the solution doesn't work for me certainly because I have a local DB.
Could someone help on this?
Best regards,
Enzo

Re: Update HP SIM 7.1 on 7.2 Unable to connect to specified database
Do you have sysadmin rights on the local SQL server. Is it a full SQL server or the light version that you can install during the initialen clean SIM install?
Kind regards,
Andrew

Re: Update HP SIM 7.1 on 7.2 Unable to connect to specified database
Hello Andrew,
I have sysadmin rights on the local SQL server.
I think the HPSIM bundled version is a light SQL server one.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
Enzo

SolutionSo you use a full sql? Did you check the db port? Usualy it's 1433.
If you use the light version you can still install the management studio. Perhaps then you can check sql log files.
Kind regards,
Andrew
