error Tape Drive Status Change

Hello,
some of my Servers allways send the message "Tape Drive Status Change" as an Critical Error. And all Critical Errors will be send by SMS. BUt this is not an Critical Error. How to get Cim not to send a message like this?

Thank you

Re: error Tape Drive Status Change

Hello,

I have another question on this subject.
How do I get rid of that error?
Where does it come from? We have a MSL6000 series 0423 attached to our DL380 server farm running W2k SP4 and Citrix FR3.
We are getting this error every 2-8 minutes.
Veritas NetBackup Datacenter v. 4.5 is used for backing up our servers.

Thank you very much

You can't get rid of it. You need to filter it as noted above.

Re: error Tape Drive Status Change

I am sorry, but I disagree with Gordon. If a device keeps being reported as 'offline', I think that is an issue to be addressed. You can make this go away by removing SCSI Information as one of the active agents, but I don't think this will fix the root cause. To do this, open HP (or Compaq) Management Agent from the Control Panel, and remove 'SCSI Information' from the list of active agents.

I noticed that nobody responded as to what other features will be turned off by this action in your cross link. I would not recommend nor act on this without understanding the impact.

Re: error Tape Drive Status Change

Gordon, I agree. Turning off active agents is not to be done lightly. I only suggested this as a way for Hans "to get rid of this error". This is something that should be fixed by HP, since filtering out the notifications still does not fix the root problem.
