Computer freeze after Ignite Install

I'm trying to install HPUX 11.00 onto a 735 with Ignite. When I do a CD-Based install, everything works fine. However, when I try an IgniteUX install over the network it ultimately fails. Everything seems to go fine until it reboots after compiling the kernel. When it restarts, it tries to boot the kernel, and all 4 lights go on and stay on. Last message:
6144000 - 841400 - 2729656 - start 0x2107e8
The install log gives the following errors while compiling kernel:
WARNING: No such device, tunable, or cdio hil
Ignoring the following line.
hil
It does this for hil, eisa, eeprom, pa, and btlan6.

What could cause this total lockup on my system?

Re: Computer freeze after Ignite Install

Meanwhile some info on hil.

Re: Computer freeze after Ignite Install

What type of system was the image that you are using generated from? Is it from the a 735 or is it from a different system? How was the image created? Is it a 32-bit or a 64-bit image? What version of Ignite did you use to create the image? All of this can make a difference.

Re: Computer freeze after Ignite Install

First, from /usr/share/doc/11.00RelNotes:
******************************************************************************
1.8.2 Workstations Obsolete as of 11.0

The following workstations have become obsolete as of HP-UX Release 11.0:

705, 710, 715/33, 715/50, 715/75, 720, 725/50, 725/75, 730, 735, 750,
755, and the following graphics workstations: GRX, CRX-8, CRX-24,
CRX-24Z,CRX-48Z, HCRX-8Z, and HCRX-24Z

******************************************************************************

That said, there is support for HIL and EISA(32bit only) in 11.00. Given the kernel build failure it seems that the symbols hil, eisa (eeprom brought in by eisa) don't have the corresponding entries in /usr/conf/lib/libhpux.a.

Without all of the drivers in the kernel it is unlikely that it will boot successfully. You can get some debug information at kernel load time by interacting with the boot rom (press and hold the escape key), at the BOOT_ADMIN> prompt enter "boot pri isl".
At the ISL> prompt enter
"hpux -D0x2a /stand/vmunix"

this will put out debug information regarding the kernel load.

Re: Computer freeze after Ignite Install

Thanks for the help! The images I used were in fact built for a different but similar model. I was hoping to get them to work on our slightly older workstations. I'll just build my own golden image on one, and use that to install on the other workstations.
