How to name Ignite files

Hi

I make net recovery archives of Hp servers and i need to have a specific name for the recovery files.

I can change when it's done but then i need to change a lot of configuration files and a lot of directories

Is there a (simple) way to specify the name of the file when i make a make_net_recovery ?

I haven't seen this option I can only change the tag but it is not the point.

Jean-Claude
thanks for help and sorry for my english !

Re: How to name Ignite files

Hello Jean-Claude,

You can name the archive server and the archive directory but not the file name. The make_net_recovery will create a unique file name based on time and date and save as many copies as you specify with the "-n" option in a subdirectory that by default is the name of the server.

This normally works pretty well for managing the DR recovery files. Just out of curiosity, why do you need to rename your archive files?

You can rename it to whatever you want but make sure you change the configuration files accordingly otherwise you will not be able to use it.

Re: How to name Ignite files

Dear Jean,

The name of the archive dosent matter.

The only IMPORTTANT thing is to ensure that the correct name has been updated the

/var/opt/ignite/INDEX file and from there ALL corresponding config files mentioned in the particular config.

Please check the below doc for the custom configuration,

Re: How to name Ignite files

I wanted to name the files according to the normalization process of the compagny but it seems to be touchy because of the number of the configuration files to modify

thanks for your help

Re: How to name Ignite files

I don't think you can tell make_net_recovery how to call the new archive but in a short summary here it is how a recovery procedure using make_net_recovery would work:

1. add the new client into the IUX interface
2. copy CINDEX from some other client to the client machine "clients" directory we want to restore
3. vi the CINDEX file and change the path to reflect the make_net_recovery image to use for our restore
4. make sure the image source is exported via NFS correctly, check /etc/exports and eventually do an "exportfs -av"
5. boot the new machine to be ignited to something like: bootsys -wv -i "testing" test 2>/var/tmp/ignite_log is used to automatically do the recovery

Hope this helps.

Re: How to name Ignite files

Shalom Jean Claude,

Instead of make_tape_recovery you can use make_sys_image

This is the tool that make_tape_recovery uses.

Its commonly used to create golden images and gives you the ability to choose the name for the archive.
