Ignite UX Server image restore SLOW

Hi ,

We are trying to restore image from rx2800 to rx2660 , through make_net_Recovery archive taken.

Both servers are in different vlan , as a result of which we are stuck at below point ;

Choose an operating system to install that your hardware supports:1

Obtaining size of AUTO   (172 bytes)

Downloading file  AUTO   (172 bytes)

Obtaining size of Rel_B.11.31/IINSTALL   (66517050 bytes)

Downloading file  Rel_B.11.31/IINSTALL  -

Its going on since 1.5 hrs , earlier to download 3MB file it took 3 min could it be because of Network ??

Checked speed settings ; Ignite server is running on

root #/var/opt/ignite/data >netstat -in
Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Ierrs Opkts Oerrs Coll
lo0 32808 127.0.0.0 127.0.0.1 5243304 0 5243367 0 0
lan1 1500 192.16.1.0 192.16.1.4 916806 0 916875 0 0..................................Heartbeat vlan
lan4 1500 10.1.1.0 10.1.1.141 1061702300 0 632505099 0 0

root #/var/opt/ignite/data >instl_adm -d
# instl_adm defaults:
# NOTE: Manual additions between the lines containing "instl_adm defaults"
# and "end instl_adm defaults" will not be preserved.
server="192.16.1.4"
netmask[]="255.255.255.0"
route_gateway[0]="10.1.1.1"
route_destination[0]="default"
# end instl_adm defaults.

My question is why its going through 192.16.1.4 IP ? Can i force it through 10.1.1.141 IP ??

Because 192.16.1.4 is 100FD on switch , do i need to change it to 1000FD so that my image downloading will be fast ?

Re: Ignite UX Server image restore SLOW

If there is nothing following the line: Downloading file  Rel_B.11.31/IINSTALL  -

then it is not functional. This isn't a speed issue.

The line: netmask[]="255.255.255.0"
is incorrect. It should be netmask[0]="255.255.255.0"

The 100FD setting is the only speed on that LAN card. It is not possible to change it.
But as mentioned, this is not a speed problem.

Re: Ignite UX Server image restore SLOW

Hi Team,

After having a chat with network team they have resolved that speed issue.

We are able to go ahead with installation now.

Am facing one more issue after ignite is restored am not able to view patches which are installed on Ignite server.

Is there additional setting to get all softwares and patches from Ignite UX server to client.

Re: Ignite UX Server image restore SLOW

The command is swlist.
You can run it on the newly installed system, or at the Ignite server.
For the Ignite server, you need to tell swlist where the archive is located.
Provide the full path like this:

 swlist -s /var/opt/ignite/depots/Rel_B.11.31/<depot_directory>

Re: Ignite UX Server image restore SLOW

Hi Bill,
I need all softwares present on ignite server to be available in client.
We have ignite archive image in /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/drtest1/2015-04:19:34
I must run swlist on ignite server right ?
And point it to above mentioned path or create new directory called depots ?
After this pointing ? How wil softwares get installed on client ?

Re: Ignite UX Server image restore SLOW

The path you used (2015-04:19:34) is an archive, probably the backup of the rx2800.
So the restored rx2660 is a copy of the rx2800's archive. There is no way to list the software from this archive -- it is just a tar backup of the rx2800. To see the software on either of those servers, run swlist on either server.

Ignite can perform two types of recovery operations:

Complete installs using depots that came with the Ignite software or depots from golden images,
or,
Restore images of other machines which is what you did.

The software installed on the Ignite server is not used during recovery. To customize a recovery, you need to follow the details for creating a Golden Image in the Ignite manual.

Re: Ignite UX Server image restore SLOW

Any other suggestions other than Golden image to copy all softwares from ignite server to client ?
