Ignite and agile/persistent device file support

The "HP-UX 11i V3 Persistent DSF Migration Guide" indicates that legacy device files must still be maintained for Ignite to restore a system. Is that still the case for all version of 11iV3? The versions of 11iV3 running are March 2009, March 2011, and March 2012.  We are running Ignite version C.7.14.274.
