I am getting this error after upgrading the data protector 5.5 to 6.11. While taking ignite backup
ERROR: /opt/ignite/bin/instl_adm failed checking syntax for

instl_adm: Config file: "/var/opt/ignite/recovery/2010-08-05,04:31/archive_cfg" cannot be parsed.
ERROR: Failure creating the archive configuration
ERROR: make_arch_config failed.
I tried deleting the line number 387 (impacts = "/.java/.userPrefs/_!':!bw"t!#4!a!"w!#4!bw"2" 8Kb) and also tried deleting the file /var/opt/ignite/recovery/2010-08-05,04:31/archive_cfg but same problem. I have noticed that before upgradation of data protector this line i.e.(impacts = "/.java/.userPrefs/_!':!bw"t!#4!a!"w!#4!bw"2" 8Kb)was not there in archive_cfg file. But now when i am taking ignite backup this line is there in archive_cfg file.
Please let me know how to resolve this problem.
Thanks,
Narendra

Re: Ignite backup problem.
Let us clarify, where you git this error! I mean, when you are using make_tape_recovery or when you upgrade your data protector.
if you are facing this while using make_tape_recovery command
check the following
#cd /opt/ignite/bin
#./instl_adm
it will show you host IP!
/var/opt/ignite/recovery/2010-08-05;16:27/archive_content is usally created while taking Ignite!

Re: Ignite backup problem.
I am getting this error while taking ignite backup. But this problem started after upgrading the data protector on this server.
And also yes ./instl_adm is showing the IP address.
Thanks,
Narendra

SolutionYou can exclude the /.java dir from the backup using the -x option:
-x exclude=file|directory
Excludes the file or directory from the archive. When a
directory is specified, no files beneath that directory will
be stored in the archive. If the excluded directory is an
unmounted file system shown in the /etc/fstab file, a
WARNING ("Filesystem xxx is not mounted. It will be
ignored.") message will be displayed.
you can also run list_expander and take a look if it finishes without erros, although I image it does:
/opt/ignite/lbin/list_expander

Re: Ignite backup problem.
What happened after you deleted the above .userPrefs file?
Did the ignite backup fail on another file?
