OS Backup???

Hi,
can anyone tell me that, is there any need to stop applications (e.g. Oracle) before running make_tape_recovery command to make a OS Backup??

Thanks in advance.
Bye

Re: OS Backup???

HI

there is no need to stop the application.

make_tape_recovery will only backup your LVM data and not your application data.
And this is done when the system is up and running.

Re: OS Backup???

Hi,
There is no need to stop application before running make_tape_recovery. In actual fact make_tape_recovery only backup the entire root disk and nothing else.

Re: OS Backup???

Hi all,

I agree with all of the above answers I just want to point out that in the unlikely event you're running your Oracle database from vg00 or are including the vgs where the database resides in your Ignite backup you cannot use that Ignite image to restore the database in a supported manor.

Best regards,
