Restoring ignite from PA system to a IA system

Hi

 

Has anybody successfully restore an ignite of a PA to a IA system.

Since they have difference architectures, that won't work too well.

You can restore individual files though.

You can restore some data, but not the OS!

Direct restore of a make_net_recovery or make_tape_recovery is not supported and will not work.

 

You may have more success with the less hardware dependent Golden Image, which is really just a software image. I don't off the top of my head know if that path is supported, but you may want to give it a try in the lab.

 

We however maintain separate Golden Images for IA verus PA-RISC systems. HP built our Ignite server, so I'd say it unlikely a Golden Image can be migrated either.
