Volume group has no data after install
I installed the operating system from a make_tape_recovery tape and it all looks good except for the fact that one oracle volume group is missing all data. The disks are there, the directories are there and almost correct but all the directories are empty.
Here is info from the log file:
test -d /dev/vg01_eva && /usr/sbin/vgcfgbackup /dev/vg01_eva
" produced a failure.
* Run_Postconfigure_Scripts: Error
======= 07/11/16 14:42:33 EDT Installation complete: Failure

Re: Volume group has no data after install
Ignite typically only backs up the data in VG00. It is not recommended to use Ignite to back up any other data.
Was this install on a new system or an existing system? Was there data in that volume group before the Ignite restore? What data do you include in your Ignite backups?

Re: Volume group has no data after install
I used the make command to backup both VGs I wanted.
It's a new install on another machine, a clone. Yes, there was data in the volume group before the install. It somehow did not move over to the new machine but the volume group, the new LUNs or disks are there as defined.
make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -x inc_entire=vg01_eva -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mnb

Re: Volume group has no data after install
It would be nice to see the capture of backup and restore.
Do you already have a vg01 to store the data on?
WIthout such VG01 you probably see the empty mountpoint only.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Volume group has no data after install
Yes, all the volume groups are created. And all the mount points. Everything shows up in bdf. Except the used % size is 0%.
