make_recovery says: could not parse volume group name

I try to make a recovery tape. make_recovery says: could not parse volume group name.

vgdisplay and vgscan -pv give me normal (expected) output though.

the ignite log files says:

Started - Thu Dec 7 13:34:55 2000
********
make_recovery -v -i-d /dev/rmt/c1t0d0BESTn
/opt/ignite/lbin/list_expander -d
/opt/ignite/lbin/list_expander -d
/opt/ignite/lbin/list_expander -d
/opt/ignite/lbin/list_expander -d

Ended Unsuccessfully - Thu Dec 7 13:34:57 2000

My systems are 100% Murphy Compliant. Guaranteed!!!

Run vgscan to recreate /etc/lvmtab,
do make_recovery -ACv -d /dev/rmt/c1t0d0BESTn

Re: make_recovery says: could not parse volume group name

The make_recovery command has some problems with certain disk configurations. Try to install patch PHSS_21827, which is a new make_recovery. (this patch applies to 10.x)

This might solve your problem.

You can download the patch from the itrc website, and the size is 101K.

Kind regards,

Marcel Eken.

Hi Donald,

This is a known issue, solved by patch PHSS_21828 (for HP-UX 11.0).
The error message you have is in the patch release notes

Best regards,
