I need your help. I want to be able to create a golden Image from a golden system. What will be the easiest way to do this? I would like to include the OS, all patches bundles, third party softwares in another words anything listed under swlist I would like to include. I want to create the golden image in a tape. Can I use DLT's tapes or it needs to be done on a Internal DDS from the server? Also if I get any responds, and I would like to ask more question to any particular person how can I continue sending messages if I don't have real clear the answer. For some reason if I use "reply" is like I am answering myself or I need to submitted as a new question I have tried this but it did not work. Please advise I will really appreciated.
Thanks in advance to all of you.

Solution
The Ignite scripts you need to actually create the image is 'make_sys_image' and 'save_config'. They both have man pages.
The script to get it onto a tape is 'make_medialif'. The man page for this is very discriptive.
I have never used a tape 'golden image', I just install my images over the wire for the IUX server.
Look at the man page for the make_sys_image script, but it just get the image on you local machine, do a 'make_sys_image -s local' And you will have a file created called hostname.gz in /var/tmp. save_config is 'save_config -f file' or 'save_config -f file vg00 vg01' (if you wanted to add vg01, for example...)
I believe you will still have to have a /var/opt/ignite/INDEX file created in order to make the tape...
Hope it helps
John

Re: "How to create a golden Image from IUX"
You need to copy 'make_sys_image' and make changes to the copy. Under certain circumstances your changes can get reset.
If your save_config fails on an 11.11 system, remove vxfm so long as you are not using it.
'make_sys_image' uses pax to build the image. That will bypass any file bigger than 2G, you will have to use fbackup or ftp after the fact for these files.
