Boot an Itanium server with a system disk created by other Itanium server
Does anyone know if it is possible to move the 2nd LVM mirrored system disk from one Itanium server, and then insert the disk into another new Itanium server and then boot the system up successfully?
I believe there should be some procedures to be done on the new Itanium server to modify the metadata on the disk to make it work. Just need to know the exact procedures.

Re: Boot an Itanium server with a system disk created by other Itanium server
if you shutdown the system before it should be possible if you have HW enablement bundle installed, but would recommend you to use ignite for this.
go to => www.hp.com/go/Ignite-UX
or you could use DRD for cloning of the disk.
go to =>

Re: Boot an Itanium server with a system disk created by other Itanium server
With DRD you don't need a downtime at all.
With fast hardware an ignite restore should take around 30...40 min, so you can be within this 1hour window too.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
