HP rx7640 - MP Password Reset

Hi

We have forgot the MP Password. We have following queries

1. How to reset the MP Password?
2. Do we loose Complex Profile if we reset the MP Password.

Reset of MP password might not affect the complex profile and for resetting the password there is a button on the board (Hard Reset) which reset the password and assign/activate the default account credentials

I have the same problem... MP with unknown password.

It seems that link to the PDF is no longer valid. Does someone have a working link?

Or maybe a short description how it is made?

Hi,

the information can be found in the related User Guide at HP Support Center:

http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc
 -> search for “rx7640” and select your product from the list
  -> choose “Manuals”
   -> under "User guide" you can find the "HP Integrity rx7640 and HP 9000 rp7440 Servers User Service Guide"

On page 114 there is the location and description of the MP Reset button.
If the MP RESET button is held for longer than five seconds, it will clear the MP password and reset the LAN,
RS-232 (serial port), and modem port parameters to their default values.

Thanks.... that was it! Pressing the Reset button for more than 5 sec and the job is done.

I think simple solutions like this should be posted directly in this forum instead of referencing to documents that are no more accessible after 2 years or so. Unfortunately HP has the habit to re-arrange theis websites periodically to make technicians life a bit more exciting :-)
