SAN boot encapsulation is not working

Hi ,

I have a rx2660 with B.11.31 which is booted off a CLARiiON lun(40GB). I want to migrate this LUN to a VPlex system so I removed the existing zones from the CLARiiON and connected the host to VPlex. I remapped the LUN to VPlex which has a feature called encapsulation through which the existing data on the LUN is intact. Ideally this ensures that the boot information and all the file systems are still available through VPlex.

I then tried to boot the host using this lun which was failing to find the boot disk. When I made this connections back to CLARiiON I was still able to boot the host so that means putting the LUN through VPlex doesn't damage the boot disk.

Can someone let me know the possible ways to search for the boot disk from the EFI sehll prompt.

OS. B.11.31

HBA : HP AB379-60101

Driver Version = @(#) fcd B.11.31.0909

Re: SAN boot encapsulation is not working

Hi Anoop,

Using EFI, Setup utility , you can set the boot scan target as EFISCAN Level and configure the SAN Boot..

For more Infromation on the Launching Setup Utility, check the for the drvcfg command according to the drv.

Example:

Shell> drivers
20 00032113 B X X  2 10 Emulex SCSI Pass Thru Driver        Elxcli321A3

Shell> drvcfg -s 20
