Many not free tools exist as well, for example:

Re: A way to search for favorites?
I think Quick Favorites Search (first link in my fisrt answer) will work with Netscape as well
http://chris.id.au/qfs/default.htm#Whatis
" It can also read Netscape Navigator and Opera bookmark files"
And if I remember right (I didn't work with Netscape recently) Netscape had some basic bookmarks search options built-in.

Re: A way to search for favorites?
In Firefox, a Netscape alternative built around the same core code, there is an option to sort bookmarks. See the attached file.

Re: A way to search for favorites?
little trick is to export favorites in a file and after use ctrl-f to look for into it.
File->export=>favorites.
Simple and without any SW.
