Extending/increasing Max PV limit

Hi Guys,

We are in need of migrating to a different storage, from our current one.

HP-UX indbp01f B.11.31 U ia64

We are at the current lvm version of 1.0 (VG Version 1.0), I could see that it supports up-to 255 PVs.

What I would like to know is whether it is possible to increase the current limit set on the volume group without rebuilding the volume group. Below is what we have currently set to the volume group.

The answer should be "Yes" but the procedure (to change the actual Max PV from 80 to the maximum PV limit you discovered, which is not necessarily equal to - or that it's not in a 1:1 rate with - the Max LV of 255 you have) varies depending on how old is your HP-UX OS and LVM: since a version that operation can be made "Online", before you must proceed "Offline".

Read this old 2009 thread about how to increase Max PV of a Volume Group (VG). It should be sufficiently pertinent.
