Help me install OnlineJFS 3.3 on HP-UX 11.00

I am not having much luck installing OnlineJFS under HP-UX 11.00.

Here's what I am doing:

Install a default load of 11.00 on a new R-Class server from CD
Install OnlineJFS 3.3 from CD
Install MirrordiskU/X from CD
Install the latest hardware/critical patch bundle (XSWHWCR1100) from depot
Install the latest general release bundle (XSWGR1100) from depot
Attempt a OnlineJFS command (i.e. create JFS snapshot)
SAM whines that "you do not have the vxadv driver in kernel"
Look at kernel, neither vxbase or vxadv is in
Try to put both in, SAM whines about "don't have files to install vxadv driver"
Put just vxbase in, reboot, kernel hangs, "init spawning too rapidly..."

I have done this over and over again, slightly modifing the order of installs. What am I missing?

This machine is intended for a server.
If Microsoft made vacuum cleaners, they wouldn't suck.

Greg:

After you install Advanced VxFS on HP-UX 10.x and 11.x, you must ensure that the Advanced VxFS product is properly patched. Failure to properly patch the application can lead to unexpected downtime, file system corruption, and unexplained errors, caused by previously resolved problems.

Take a look at documents #S1100003498, #A5876850, and #A5856952.

Hopefully this will help.

Re: Help me install OnlineJFS 3.3 on HP-UX 11.00

Hi again Greg.

So just to summarise all that stuff above:
- verify you have the corrct product filesets installed, not the AdvJournalFS filesets.
- if so, test some of the OnlineJFS commands from the command line, e.g. fsadm, just to prove it works.
- the Sam interface doesn't work. Presumably HP will be providing a patch sometime soon.

Hope it's useful,
