multiple simultaneous vgmove's?
Can I run multiple vgmove's at one time? I'm moving data from older EVA to newer EVA and am concerned about how long it is taking.

Re: multiple simultaneous vgmove's?
This is an old thread, but thought it deserved somewhat of an answer. I used to do multiple vgmoves when I was using vg version 1.0 volumes. But at that time I was also on an older version of BaseLVM. Currently I am on B.11.31.1303 of BaseLVM and started using vg version 2.2. I have not been able to do multiple moves in this scenario. But what I am unsure of is whether it is a change in LVM or my vg version.

Unable how? You get an error? It ignores it? Or takes a long time?

Re: multiple simultaneous vgmoves?
Dennis,
I when I try to do multple vgmoves I get a message stating that the second vgmove cammpt obtain a lock on one of the the lvm files. I cannot rememeber the name off hand. The vgmove command just sits waiting on the lock. I beleive it would eventually go after the first vgmove completes.

Re: multiple simultaneous vgmoves?
The command is getting (setting) a lock (file), then executes. If a lock is already set, it waits ... (same if you mirror LVOLs).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
