pvchange -s hanging

pvchange -s hanging

When giving the pvchange -s command in order to change the primary path, the command just hangs. You are unable to break out of even kill the process. If you look in the syslog.log file, it states that the command was successfull and that the primary path has changed, but when you do a vgdisplay, it still shows as the original configuration. If you then try to work around with a vgreduce/vgextend, the commands say they have worked, but nothing changes.

Re: pvchange -s hanging

Hi

Can't kill the process? Sound like a bad disk. Try

dd if=/dev/dsk/c... of=/dev/null count=1000

If it still hangs then reseat the disk. Pulling it out will unhang it. In fact, try this first and then the dd command.
