vg07 does not show up in /etc/lvmtab

Hi!

I have an entry missing for vg07 in lvmtab.  I can see entry in fstab but not in lvmtab. /app File system is mounted on it. I can see it from SMH but I amhesitant to import it as it requires a new VG name.

$bdf

/dev/vg07/lvol1    62898176 12433242 47328205   21% /app/oracle

 # vgdisplay /dev/vg07
--- Volume groups ---
VG Name                     /dev/vg07
VG Write Access       read/write
VG Status                   available
Max LV                        511
Cur LV                         1
Open LV                     1

Total Spare PVs    0
Total Spare PVs in use      0
VG Version                  2.0
VG Max Size                60g
VG Max Extents         3840

 # lvdisplay /dev/vg07/lvol1
--- Logical volumes ---
LV Name                                   /dev/vg07/lvol1
VG Name                                  /dev/vg07

What do I do so it gets added to lvmtab? Any advice?

Thanks

Re: vg07 does not show up in /etc/lvmtab

Can you please post the output of "strings /etc/lvmtab"?

Since the LV is mounted and vgdisplay and lvdisplay are working correctly, I wouldn't do anything drastic.

Re: vg07 does not show up in /etc/lvmtab

What disk(s) comprise VG01 (your 'vgdisplay' doesn't show the disks -- try 'vgdisplay -v vg07')?  Did it get renamed at some point?

Re: vg07 does not show up in /etc/lvmtab

Please post

# lvmadm -l

(lower case L)

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

I see the problem in the bottom of the output. Can I change the version # while file system is up and running?

Thanks

Re: vg07 does not show up in /etc/lvmtab

I wouldn't.  I don't see that having the VG as a version 2.0 VG is a problem.  Just something to keep in mind.

Also, information for VGs that are version 2.0 and greater is stored in the /etc/lvmtab_p file.

Re: vg07 does not show up in /etc/lvmtab

Version 2.x volume groups are not listed in /etc/lvmtab; this is normal. They are listed in /etc/lvmtab_p instead.

Version 2.x volume groups can have higher capacity/less overhead than version 1.0 volume groups, so it's actually a good thing.
