Sortlib: ERROR NUMBER -7

Hello.

MPE /iX Release C.60.00 on 928RX.

Using COBOL II to call intrinsic sort.pub.sys.

Turbosort yielding "SORTLIB: ERROR NUMBER -7".

Does anyvody know what this error is ?

How do i find these errors in the knowledgebase ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

Re: Sortlib: ERROR NUMBER -7

I'm a little confused. Are you using the COBOL SORT verb or are you using the SORT intrinsic calls (SORTINIT, SORTINPUT, etc) or are you invoking SORT.PUB.SYS as a process?

I assume the error message is printing on $STDLIST? Most regular sort errors are covered in the first volume of the error message manual (docs.hp.com), but I find no reference to SORTLIB errors.

What v.u.f of SORT/XL and MPE/iX are you running?

Re: Sortlib: ERROR NUMBER -7

Hello.

Thanks to both Mastake and Glenn for their replies.

I'm using the SORT.PUB.SYS in a job stream. It really has nothing to do with COBOL. I'm sorry for misleading you.

I will research trying to get more contiguous disk space for the sort.

Thanks,
Tony

Hello Emile.

I'm not sure of what your reply is. Are you saying that i should reply and indicate if the problem is resolved?
