Hi Manuales:
The man pages for 'tput' detail the basic terminal enhancement features available. Generally, you can dim, brighten, underline, reverse, and make bold characters. Creating color can also be done.

Hi Manuales,
I am pleased with Midnight Commander - I have installed it and while writing scripts it highlights the syntax making it a lot easier to write a script.
Hope this is what you are looking for.
