Thank you for the reply. I notice that UTF-8 is not included in the list. Is UTF-8 supported for the Japanese locales? More specifically, does hpux 11.0 have iconv modules that will convert any of the Japanese encodings to and from UTF-8?

The following locales are also supported on 11.0 for asian environments:

ja_JP.SJIS
ja_JP.eucJP
ja_JP.kana8
zh_CN.hp15CN
zh_TW.ccdc
zh_TW.big5
zh_TW.eucTW
ko_KR.eucKR

Additionally, the more recent Extension Packs include support for the following:

C.utf8
univ.utf8
