putprpwnam usage on a trusted system

My Question:
The 'C' function putprpwnam on HP-UX 11i is failing for me. This was working just fine under 10.20. I have no way of knowing why it is failing because the command just returns a 0 when failure. It does not appear that the errno is being set either. I did find a patch (PHCO_20679) that mentions that the command was modified to return an error code. I was told that patch should be apart of the 11i release. However, the man page still shows that the return code for putprpwnam is still 0 during failure.
Any help is appreciated.
