Accidental initialization

Hi,

I have a BIG problem !!!!

the hardware is a netserver
LH3
purchased in 2002 and perfectly working
with 4 physical disks in 2 logical RAID1 drives.

Drive 1 has Win 2000 server SP4

We wanted to upgrade to 3 logical RAID1 drives with 2 more physical disks

During the installation of other 2 disks something has gone wrong and
logical drive 1 was initialized (or formatted perhaps !)

I cannot understand if this is an error of a person at keyboard or other things !

I have some questions :

1.
is it possible to reconstruct (with netraid tools or so on...)
drive 1 partially or completely without reinstalling or recovering from backup ?

2.
is it possible this error was due to a firmware on computer or on disks or
elsewhere not upgraded ?

3.
assuming the firmware has never been upgraded, is it possible to know
what is the code of firmware associated to the hardware ?

Thanks for your time

Re: Accidental initialization

My understanding is that Raid 1 mirrors the drives i.e. logical drive one is a copy of logical drive two so rebuilding the array should be possible (indeed automatic). The server should work with either logical disk. If its not then you have a problem in both logical drives. If this is the case then you have a BIG problem. Now is very bad time to consider making back ups.
Most likely caused by STKI (seat to keyboard interface).

Re: Accidental initialization

I have done a little more research and as far as I can tell this is normal behaviour. If you add phyiscal disks to a logical disk it will initialize the array.

Re: Accidental initialization

I think it may be too easy to destroy a RAID at kbd.Thank you
