HP Netserver E40 and USB 2.0 controller
Dear Sirs.
HP Netserver E40 has not USB ports.
I have installed USB 2.0(chip VIA VT6202) controller into PCI slot of HP Netserver E40.
OS Windows ME has found out it and installed drivers from CD which was included with controller.
I have connected scanner UMAX Astra 4700 into USB-port but server has not seen scanner.
I have checked scanner in another computer the scanner worked properly.
Server has not conflicts by IRQ between USB and SCSI controllers.
Please tell me
Can HP Netserver E40 work with USB 2.0 controller or not, generally speaking?
Could You recommend me special USB 2.0 controller or other ways for solving my problem.
Thanks,
Yury Kuprienko/Luxoft Ltd.

Re: HP Netserver E40 and USB 2.0 controller
Yury,
NT 4.0 is the only MS NOS supported on the E40. Windows ME is definately not supported on the E40-->its also not a very stable NOS anyhow. There also was no USB support on netservers until just recently and USB 2.0 PCI cards may or may not work as they are not tested on this server. You can try to lock an IRQ down for the pci slot in the bios and see if that helps.
Good luck,
Greg

Re: HP Netserver E40 and USB 2.0 controller
Hi Greg!
Thank You for yuor attention. I have alredy installed PCI Tekram DC602B controller, wich provides USB 2.0 and connected scaner Umax Astra 4700 with USB 2.0.
All is OK! It is worked very fast under Windows ME.
Best Regards
