LH3 BIOS update now COM-B modem won't answer
We recently flashed theBIOS on an LH# (D5000A) PII 400 EmbeddedRAID 5 SCO 5.0.5a with COM-B used for years as modem port for dial-in only. Exhausted all potential hardware problems from telco to Clear CMOS with no luck. Support says no record of problem with COM-C (dedicated Management port - never used) interferring with COM-B, but SCO boot cannot see serial-1 (COM-B) at all if COM-C is disabled in BIOS; does if enabled. Anyone have suggestions? Thank you. Pen Smith

Re: LH3 BIOS update now COM-B modem won't answer
you need to go in the bios under Configuration>>Integrated I/O Ports >>Serial Ports>>>then Disable Management Port and Enable Serial Port B.
In fact the hardware is only one, you have to enable or Port B or Management Port

Re: LH3 BIOS update now COM-B modem won't answer
Melanie, Thanks but this LH3 (D5000A) has three actual serial ports in its original configuration ( the mngmt port is a dedicated hardware port COMC) A great Netserver Engineer, Angela Carsrud, has been helping but we found that the addresses on PortB had to be changed to 2F8 instead of 2E8 for it to work which it does now. I had brought up the potential for address conflicts since COMC and COMB share IRQ 3, but changing it onCOMC didnot have any effect. Changing it on COMB did the trick. Angela said she was going to write something up. Thank you for replying. Pen Smith
