Interesting question. I don't know how to shutdown native W2k thru a command prompt. You may have to install a utility that will allow you to shut the server remotely.

I found the following website that may have a utility that you could use:

I have never used any of these.

Good luck!.

Hello Alexander,

you could use the shutdown.exe from the Windows resource kit to remotely shutdown another server.

It allows several options on the commandline like i.e. a delay before the shutdown start
additional message to be posted
a reboot after the shutdown or not

have a look at Q317371 from Microsoft

Yes alright, i know that tool, but we want to shutdown a W2K-server over a HP-UX maschine. I also know the UPS-Manager to shutdown via SNMP. But it must give an alternative.
