Memory Upgrade to NAS 1200s

Does anyone know what the maximum amount of memory you can install into a NAS-1200s is? There are 3 slots in the server, and the documentation says 1GB. I have tried replacing the 512Mb that is there at the moment with 1GB DIMM, but this does not work. The lights come on, but thats as far as it gets. (They are all green lights, just in case you wondered)

Any help would be appeciated.

The 1200s only supported 1gb max and I believe that was with a 512mb upgrade.
