NNM High availability

Pl. Help me out on this.

Share any documents of High availability of NNM. Doesn't matter which version it is.

Thanks in advance,

Arun

Re: NNM High availability

Arun,

If you go to SSO ( http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/manuals )  Select Network Node Manager and the version you have, you will find the deployment guide which details the High avaliability options and how to configure them.

  All the best

Re: NNM High availability

Hi Dave,

In the same topic, I plan to do a fresh install of NNMi 9.2 with RHEL 6, and for the cluster configuration I need to decide between RHCS and VCS.

From the point of view of the NNMi 9.2 application, does either RHCS or VCS have an andvantage? Does any one perform better?

My preference is actually RHCS, do you know of any NNM customer using it today and what failover benchmarks they report?

I will appreciate any additional information related to this topic. And yes, I already tried the Self-Solve website.

Thanks,

Re: NNM High availability

Hi Luis

The functionality we use for the NNMi Resource Group (RG) is very similar on both platforms. The NNMi HA framework is written in a way that it should not matter which HA solution you use at the end of the day.

I've seen more deployments of RHCS NNMi RGs than VCS.

The 'danger' with RHCS is the cluster.conf file which needs to be built correctly for the NNMi HA scripts to work. The NNMi 9.20 Patch #2 is scheduled to release anytime soon. It contains a couple of RHCS specific fixes in order to correctly insert the NNMi RG information into the cluster.conf file.

This kind of issues are not seen with VCS (and hp-ux MC/SG) because VCS and MC/SG provide their own tools to create the resource groups (aka package).

If you need assistance in setting up your RHCS RG or you need to do it for NNM 9.20 P1, then please log a case so we can give you the fixed scripts and instructions to successfully setup the cluster.

Best regards,

Dieter
