NNMi console access without authentication

Dear All,

I have a query in accessing the NNMi console.

I want a few users to access the graphs link generated in NNMi without any authentication.

I mean the people who access the link should be able to open the url without any authentication.

Is that possible in NNMi??

Regards

Re: NNMi console access without authentication

Assuming that you're on a recent NNMi 9.x version ...

If you look under the Help > NNMi Documentation Library > Integrate NNMi Elsewhere with URLs you will be taken to the help page for launching NNMi URLs directly.

This *may* provide a solution, if you don't mind saving a user/password in a URL shortcut, as these values can be passed on the command line when launching specific NNM views/forms/graphs.

See the following excerpt:

http://<host>:<port>/nnm/launch?[cmd=<command>][&<command-specific-parameters>][&j_username=<username>&j_password=<password>]

      <command> :=
            cmd=showMain |
            cmd=showForm |
            cmd=showConfigForm |
            cmd=showView |
            cmd=showIncidents |
            cmd=showNetworkOverview |
            cmd=showNodeGroupOverview |
            cmd=showPath |
            cmd=showLayer2Neighbors |
            cmd=showLayer3Neighbors |
            cmd=showNodeGroup |
            cmd=showLineGraph |
            cmd=showMibBrowser |
            cmd=showMenuItem |
            cmd=runTool |
            cmd=isRunning |
            cmd=signOut |
            cmd=help

Hope this helps,

Aaron

Re: NNMi console access without authentication

Hi Aaron,

Please find below the url which I wanted to access without any authentication:

http://nnm9iha.cbq.com.qa/nnm/launch?cmd=showLineGraph&init=instancelist=50;expr=com.hp.nms.mibexpr....]

I have added the user credentials at the last.

But still I am not able to launch the url.

I opened the line graph of Interface utilization for a node as an administrator and copied that url and added user credentials at the last.

Do I have to change anything in this for the url to work??

Regards

Re: NNMi console access without authentication

It looks like you have included the "[" character in your URL.

The "[" and "]" characters in the syntax definition are just showing that the "&j_username=my_ID&j_password=my_PWD" is an optional component of the URL.  Just add the "&j_user..." portion to your URL immediately following the existing arguments, and you should be OK.

Re: NNMi console access without authentication

Hi Aaron,

By any chance can we hide the username and password from displaying in the url????

Re: NNMi console access without authentication

Not really. You need to pass that information somehow, either in a POST request, or in the URL string.
